Suspicious Fire

Police seek witnesses in Coldstream brush fire case

Aug 20, 2025 | 10:13 AM

A brush fire that broke out in a Coldstream neighbourhood in-late July is considered suspicious, and police are asking witnesses to come forward.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP say a fire broke out in a wooded area between Coldstream Creek and Grieve Roads at around 2 p.m., July 25.

The fire was contained to a small area in a gully between the roads and quickly extinguished.

The early investigation into the fire led police to believe the fire was intentionally set, and asked anyone with information about the fire or who witnesses suspicious activity in the area around the time of the fire to come forward.

“We believe there may be people who have information about this incident that haven’t come forward,” Constable Chris Terleski, Media Relations Officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, said.

“If you were in the area at the time of the fire and noticed anything suspicious, or know who may be responsible, it’s important we speak to you.”

Anyone with information that could help further the investigation into this fire was asked to contact the RCMP at 250-545-7171 and quote file #2025-12165, or file an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers online or at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
