Eastside Road to see intermittent closures for slope stabilization work

Eastside Road in Vernon will be periodically closed for slope stabilization work.

Starting Thursday, August 21, the road will see 30 minute intermittent closures to accommodate the rock scaling and excavation work along the side of the road.

The work will be done between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, excluding the long weekend. The city said the project should be completed by September 5, barring any unforseen delays.

The work was started in the spring but paused to accommodate seasonal bird migration and nesting periods.

The City of Vernon advised people plan their commutes to accommodate for the closures, to follow all traffic control measures, and to be cautious of personnel and equipment in work zones.
