Construction set to begin on Mission Creek Greenway in Scenic Canyon

Aug 15, 2025 | 11:15 AM

Trail users in Scenic Canyon will see construction crews in action along the Mission Creek Greenway starting Monday, Aug. 18.

A streambank protection project will take place near the Hollywood Road South parking lot (2080 Hollywood Rd. S.) to stabilize an eroding section of the creek bank and preserve the integrity of the greenway. The in-stream work will involve excavators and crews operating directly within the creek beside the greenway. While the project area is close to the trail, public access will remain largely unaffected, with only short, intermittent closures as needed for safety.

Signage and fencing will be installed to keep visitors safely away from the top of the slope where work is taking place. The project is expected to run through mid-September. Visitors are asked to follow all posted signage and directions from onsite personnel during construction.

The Regional District offers more than 2,100 hectares of parkland, including 86 kilometres of designated trails in 30 regional parks for visitors to explore. Visit rdco.com/parks to plan your next outing.
