‘Be Fire Smart’: Local MLA gives reminder for rest of summer
Though summer will be coming to a close soon, the local MLA asks people to continue to be safe with open fires.
Harwinder Sandhu, the representative for Vernon-Lumby, is encouraging the public to continue to be careful not to spark a wildfire.
“Even though parts of the province are seeing some rain this week, it’s still crucial to be fire smart, and aware of fire risks in your own community and any you are visiting. Wildfire season is ongoing and we all have a role to play in keeping ourselves safe,” Sandhu said in a release.
“This means checking and following fire restrictions where they are in place, and if you see signs of a wildfire, reporting it – call 1-800-663-555 or dial *5555, or use the BC Wildfire Service app to report and provide information.”
