Mounties are investigating a crash on Kalamalka Lake Sunday evening.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP say a pair of paddleboarders were knocked off their boards by a boat around 7 p.m. Sunday, Augsut 10, at the north end of the lake.

A social media post from one of the paddleboarders allegedly involved in the crash, Courtney Willier, said she and her friend, Leslie Miller, were on the lake when they were struck by a “beige boat with black stripes near the bottom and bright red at the back (could have been a floatie).”

Willier said the boat was carrying a family of four who “stopped and watched us struggling in the water with our stuff floating away and once they saw someone recording, they sped off.”

The paddleboarder said two people who witnessed the crash came and helped the pair, and they were shaken up but not injured.

“That is the scariest thing I have ever had happen to me. I thought I was gonna die, it came straight at us.”

RCMP told Vernon Matters the crash was under investigation.
