Drought Hill wildfire alert lifted for 118 Peachland properties

Aug 5, 2025 | 11:23 AM

The evacuation alert related to the Drought Hill wildfire has now been rescinded for 118 addresses in the District of Peachland.

The rescinded alert includes properties on Clarence Road, Lang Court, MacNeill Court, Morrison Crescent, Morrison Court, Morrison Place, Walker Road, and all units at 5165 Trepanier Bench Road.

With the risk to those properties reduced, the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) will now deactivate and scale down its operations. However, residents are reminded that the wildfire season is not over and emergency responders remain on standby.

The Central Okanagan Emergency Operations Centre expressed thanks to residents, the BC Wildfire Service, local and neighbouring fire departments, the RCMP, and provincial agencies for their fast response and continued efforts.

Although the situation has improved, residents should be prepared to see smoke and increased fire activity as crews continue to address hot spots. Firefighting equipment will remain in the area. Anyone who sees unexpected fire activity is urged to call *5555 to report a wildfire or 911 for fire emergencies within city limits.

Residents are also encouraged to stay prepared for the remainder of wildfire season. That includes reviewing FireSmart strategies, developing emergency plans, preparing grab-and-go bags, and reviewing insurance coverage for wildfire-related damage.
