The man responsible for a bloody attack on a Kelowna Mountie three years ago has been found guilty of aggravated assault but not the more serious charge of attempted murder.
Richard McCrae attacked Const. Jason Tymofichuk by stabbing him in the eye with a carving knife in March 2022.
The police officer had responded to a supportive housing shelter on Ellis Street when concerns were raised about McCrae’s behavior.
McCrae, who suffers from a mental disorder, remains in custody.
