Pump Station Power Failure

UPDATE: Boil Water Notice rescinded

Jul 28, 2025 | 12:47 PM

UPDATE 11:30 a.m. July 31

The Boil Water Notice for select properties in Vernon’s BX area has been lifted.

The notice was issued after a power outage caused a loss of pressure at a pump station Monday.

Greater Vernon Water said Thursday that the water had been tested and the bacterial and disinfection levels had returned to within the standard drinking range, and that people no longer needed to boil their water before consuming.

People in an area of the BX neighbourhood are advised to boil water before consuming.

A power disruption at the pump station led to a loss of water pressure for some customers, and service has been restored but the notice was still issued until bacterial testing shows the disinfection levels are within the safe drinking range.

People affected by the notice are advised bring water to a roiling boil for a full minute before drinking; using to make and prepare food and drink, including ice and baby formula; and brushing their teeth.
