Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for the Okanagan

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for the Okanagan, including Vernon and Kelowna.

Environment Canada says conditions are prime for the development of a storm Tuesday, July 22, that could produce thunder and lightning, strong winds, heavy rain, and hail.

The weather agency advises people seek shelter in the storm, noting lightning strikes can be fatal.

It also warned that heavy rain could cause flash floods and reduce visibility, and advised people be cautious and drive to conditions.
