Man pulled from Okanagan Lake after standoff

A man was taken into custody after a tense scene on Kelowna’s waterfront Thursday night.

RCMP were called to Okanagan Lake near Sunset Drive for a man in distress.

Fire crews and paramedics tried to get him out of the water, but he refused and became verbally aggressive.

After a lengthy standoff, police used a high-risk rescue to bring him in.

He was checked by paramedics, and the investigation continues.
