Eby under fire

Rustad: Eby’s shuffle fails Kelowna

Jul 17, 2025 | 11:07 AM

Opposition Leader John Rustad called the cabinet shuffle a distraction from Premier David Eby’s failures. He said it won’t help with rising costs, healthcare issues, or economic uncertainty.

“Eby’s decisions, like creating GoFundMe healthcare and outsourcing ferry jobs to China, are hurting B.C. workers and families,” Rustad said in a press release. “Shuffling ministers won’t fix these problems.”

He pointed to recent scandals, including a Kelowna woman’s death after her attacker’s release, ER and pediatric ward closures at Kelowna General Hospital, defunding of treatment without expert advice, and ferry jobs sent overseas.

“If Eby cared, he’d take responsibility instead of playing politics. B.C. needs real leadership,” Rustad said.

He promised the B.C. Conservatives will focus on affordability, healthcare, safety, and protecting B.C.’s economy.

Eby reshuffled his cabinet to boost economy and jobs. Former housing minister Ravi Kahlon takes over as jobs minister while Nina Krieger will now be the solicitor general. Christine Boyle will take over the housing portfolio and her ministry of Indigenous relations and reconciliation goes to Spencer Chandra-Herbert.

Eby said his cabinet will work on the province’s biggest challenges — including growing the economy and seizing investment opportunities.
