Summer driving crackdown

Golden RCMP target speeders

BC Highway Patrol in Golden is warning drivers to slow down and drive sober amid a summer rise in speeding on Hwy 1.

Officers reported catching drivers racing through parks and construction zones, including a Tesla at 148 km/h in a 90 km/h zone.

Another motorist was clocked going at 168 km/h with alcohol in his system.

The ongoing impaired driving campaign has led to fines, impoundments, and bans.

Patrol encouraged the public to report any dangerous driving behaviour.
