Cyclist killed in Granfondo crash near Penticton

A cyclist is dead and two others are in hospital after a collision during the Okanagan’s Granfondo cycling event on Sunday.

Penticton RCMP say the crash happened on White Lake Road near St. Andrew’s Drive and involved a motor vehicle and multiple cyclists participating in the event.

Emergency responders pronounced one cyclist dead at the scene. Two other riders sustained serious injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, and White Lake Road remains closed in the area. Drivers are being asked to use alternate routes and check DriveBC for the latest updates.

In a statement issued Monday, the RCMP extended their “deepest condolences to the family, friends, and all those impacted by this devastating event.”
