First court appearance for man accused in Kelowna killing
A Lake Country man charged in the killing of his estranged wife appeared briefly in Kelowna court Thursday, July 10, by video.
James Edward Plover is facing a second-degree murder charge in the death of Bailey Plover, who was attacked in a parking lot off Spall Road last Friday.
Another woman was also hurt but is expected to recover.
The B.C Prosecution Service confirmed the case was adjourned to September 16, to consult legal counsel. Plover is subject to a provincial court detention order that was made on July 5. Should he wish to seek his release, a bail hearing would need to be scheduled in supreme court, with notice to the Crown. The Crown has received no indication that the accused will be seeking his release on this file.
