A fast-moving brush fire in West Kelowna Wednesday night was quickly brought under control, thanks to a rapid response from local crews.
West Kelowna Fire Rescue says it was called just after 9 p.m. to a fire burning behind the Okanagan RV Park on Ross Road. When firefighters arrived, they found a half-hectare blaze ranked at level three, burning aggressively in heavy timber just 90 metres from nearby structures.
Crews managed to contain the fire before it spread further, crediting quick action and easy access to water from a nearby hydrant. No injuries or structure damage were reported.
The fire is believed to be human caused, though an investigation is ongoing.
