Month-long closure of portion of Tronson needed for water main upgrades

A section of Tronson Road in Vernon will be closed for nearly a month for water main upgrades in the area.

Starting Wednesday, July 2, the road will be closed between Kin Beach and Old Stamp Road to accommodate water main upgrades and construction of a future pumphouse at the north end of the beach.

The new Frind Winery pumphouse will be taken over by the Regional District of North Okanagan once completed and be used to increase capacity for agricultural servicing in the Bella Vista and Swan Lake areas.

Construction is expected to be complete by the end of July, though will require the road to be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m on weekdays, with the possibility of some extended closures for after hours and on weekends.

Select bus stops on Route 8 will be temporarily closed, with more details at the B.C. Transit website. Detour routes will be in place for all vehicle, cyclists, and truck traffic during construction.

Kin Beach will remain open to the public during this period.

The city reminds residents to obey all traffic control measures and detour directions, be cautious of workers and equipment, and allow for extra travel time.
