Woman, 33, confirmed as victim in Highway 97 pedestrian fatal

Kelowna RCMP have confirmed the victim of a fatal pedestrian collision on Highway 97 Saturday afternoon was a 33-year-old woman who had been living in Kelowna.

Police have been investigating the incident that happened at the intersection at Burtch Road at approximately 3:15 pm. Part of the highway was shut down for several hours.

An RCMP reconstructionist was called to the scene which involved two-vehicles.

Police said the drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

Mounties said there is no suspected impairment, however speed was a factor in the collision.

“We wish to express our sincere appreciation to the individuals who stopped to render assistance at the scene,” RCMP Sgt. Laura Pollock said. “If you have been affected by this incident and require support, please contact the detachment. Our Victim Services team is available to provide compassionate and professional assistance during this difficult time.”

RCMP is asking any members of the public who have yet to talk to police, but may have dashcam video of the collision to please contact the Kelowna RCMP detachment at 250-762-3300 and reference the file number 2025-35133.
