Silver Star Bike Park opening for the season

Mountain bikers will have full access to the main hill and trails starting this week.

Silver Star Mountain Resort will open its lifts for mountain bikers at 10 a.m. Friday, June 20.

“The trail crew have been working hard to get the trails ready to ride and we’re stoked to announce over 95 per cent of the mountain is open,” Silver Star said in a release.

“We expect to have all downhill trails in the Bike Park open (Friday), with the exception of ThrowBack and the top of Double Dog, which is closed for maintenance.

“Beowuld [will be closed] Saturday for the Slay the Dragon Race.”

It added all cross country and hiking trails were already open as well.

Lift and trail status can be found online here.

There will be celebration to mark the start of the season Friday morning with cookies and hot chocolate in the village and T-shirts for the First Chair.

The Mountain Resort reminded riders that the hill has extended hours on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with the lifts running until 7:30 p.m.
