Flood Risks

Flood watches issued for two Southern Interior regions

Jun 19, 2025 | 1:17 PM

The B.C. River Forecast Centre is warning about increased stream flows and water levels in two nearby regions.

Flood Watches were issued for the Upper Columbia and East Kootenays Thursday, June 19, as a low-pressure system was forecasted to move from Alberta and into the Southern Interior’s mountain ranges.

The system was expected to bring heavy rain to the areas Friday and Saturday, before easing Sunday, which the agency said could cause river water levels to rise, stream flows to increase, and water spilling over banks and causing flooding in areas adjacent to affected rivers.

There were no warnings or watches issued for the Okanagan Thursday.
