Sewer work in Coldstream to impact local traffic

Jun 14, 2025 | 6:00 AM

Ongoing work at Selkirk Drive will impact traffic in the coming weeks.

The District of Coldstream said the Aberdeen Sanitary Sewer Project was underway on Selkirk Drive, and with the excavation and safety concerns, the road will be closed at Aberdeen Road starting Monday, June 16.

The road will be closed Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with some additional closures over the weekend possible, until the work is completed in early July. The work will also impact access to the Regional District of North Okanagan office on Aberdeen Road.

Detours will be established around the area to redirect passenger vehicles and light trucks via a paved path between Inverness and Selkirk Drives. Heavy duty trucks, vehicles towing trailers, buses, and emergency services will still be granted access through the construction zone. The intersection of Selkirk Drive and Aberdeen Road will be open outside of work hours.

Additionally, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will be repaving sections of Sarsons Road and Mt. Frosthall Drive, as well as other side roads, between June 13 and 20. The district warned this may cause some additional delays.

Motorists were reminded to slow down in work zones, be cautious of workers and equipment, and follow all traffic control measures.
