The 2025 Tim Hortons North Okanagan Sports Awards were handed out Wednesday, with Seaton Secondary athletes and coaches taking home all the hardware.

At the special ceremony held outside Vernon City Hall on June 11, the award for Athlete of the Year was presented to Seaton Grade 12 student Sierra Munroe, who excels in biathlon in the winter and rowing in the warmer months.

“[Munroe] trains year round, at the Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre for biathlon, and the Vernon Rowing Club on Swan Lake,” the awards selection committee said in an email.

“Among her highlights was winning gold at the BC Summer Games in girls’ pairs and in mixed fours.”

The Seaton Senior Gymnastics Team earned the title of Team of the Year.

“The squad won the Level Three B.C. High School Provincial Championship in Delta in March, which involved 44 teams,” the committee said.

Seaton Principal, Mike Grace, was named winner of the Leadership in Sport award.

“Grace has given his time to coach numerous sports teams over the years, including basketball and soccer, while balancing being a full-time administrator,” the committee stated.

The awards have been handed out since 1994 and are chosen by a panel of community members. They are sponsored by local businessman Dan Currie, who owns two Tim Hortons franchises.
