Big White to invest big dollars, announces millions in resort upgrades

Jun 12, 2025 | 12:00 PM

Big White Ski Resort is pouring $9.4 million into infrastructure upgrades and guest services ahead of the 2025 season.

The plan includes major lift improvements, power and fibre optic expansions, a new daycare, and upgrades to parking, grooming, and summer trails. Resort officials say the goal is to modernize operations, improve sustainability and deliver a smoother experience for guests.

“This is all about growing smarter and making Big White better for the long run,” said COO Darcy Arnold in the announcement.

One of the biggest projects is getting power to the top of the Ridge Rocket chairlift, a job that’s been two years in the making. Crews will install underground cables this summer to support digital signs, heating and future lift upgrades. Work is expected to wrap by October.

At the same time, the Black Forest lift is getting a full overhaul, and fibre optic lines are being extended across five key zones to boost communication and real-time signage.

The Village Centre Mall is also getting a facelift. A brand-new daycare and Kids’ Centre will open in the former Rider store space, offering more room for families on Opening Day.

Other projects include new bike trails, slope maintenance equipment, a modern RFID gate system in beginner areas and a fresh look for the Kettle Valley Steakhouse.

All upgrades are part of a long-term plan to keep Big White competitive and visitor-focused, year-round.
