Vernon receives 2023 Government Finance Officers Award

The City of Vernon’s financial department has earned a prestigious award.

Vernon was named the winner of the Government Finance Officers Association Award.

“It’s the Canadian award for Financial Reporting, presented to the City of Vernon one more time,” Mayor Victor Cumming said at the regular council meeting Monday, June 9.

“This is for financial reporting for the year ending December 31, 2023. Seems like a long time back but that’s how long it takes and then you get the award.”

The Mayor presented the award to Elma Hamming, Director of Financial Services, at Monday’s meeting.
