Hospice At Home Pilot

End-of-life care pilot program launched in Vernon

Jun 10, 2025 | 6:00 AM

A new program will support people needing end-of-life care and wishing to spend their final days in their homes.

The North Okanagan Hospice Society (NOHS) has introduced its new Hospice at Home program, aimed to bring care and services directly into Vernon residents’ homes.

The pilot program will offer professional medical care, emotional support, and personal assistance to help them live their final days with dignity, comfort, and the support of their loved ones.

“This program is about honoring people’s wishes to be at home at the end of life,” Megan Cox, Executive Director of NOHS, said.

“We’re here to make sure no one faces this journey alone, and that families feel supported every step of the way.”

The program is open to those who live within the Vernon area, have a serious illness with a prognosis of less than three months, and would prefer to pass away at home. They must also have a 24-hour live-in caregiver, internet access, and be open to receiving care from the Hospice at Home team.

There will be no cost for families during the pilot phase of the program. Anyone interested in learning more about Hospice at Home can contact the NOHS care team at 250-241-9422.
