‘Be safe on the water’: Local police
With temperatures rising and more people cooling down in the area’s lakes and rivers, the RCMP is reminding people to be safe when out on the water.
Vernon North Okanagan RCMP remind people boating, paddleboarding, swimming, or doing other outdoor recreating on bodies of water to use a properly fitting lifejacket; ensure vessels are equipped with the necessary safety gear; and to not use drugs or alcohol.
“We want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable summer,” Constable Chris Terleski, Media Relations Officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, said.
“A day on the water can turn tragic in an instant if safety isn’t taken seriously. Make smart choices and look out for each other.”
