Another big step has been taken towards the ambitious fundraising goal for the planned Recreation and Wellness Centre at Okanagan College’s Kelowna campus.

Bruce and Bob Callahan, philanthropists and owners of Callahan Property Group, are donating $200,000.

The gift is aimed at empowering youth, strengthening community ties and championing the power of education.

The college is now less than $1 million shy of the $14-million community fundraising goal.

In a media release, Bruce Callahan, president of Callahan Property Group, says the family-owned business prides itself on supporting community organizations.

“We are thrilled to support this centre,” says Bruce. “I am an Okanagan College alumni and knowing that community and students will have a place to connect and belong really resonated for us. We want to ensure students can learn, play, prosper and thrive here.”

The Callahan Property Group was founded by Lloyd Callahan more than 60 years ago and provides real estate development, management and leasing services to Kelowna and the surrounding region. Mission Park Shopping Centre, owned and operated by Callahan Property Group, services Okanagan College area and was built around the same time as the college.
