Woman’s body recovered from Okanagan Lake

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP say the body of a woman who went missing on Okanagan Lake has been found.

At around 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, officers with the B.C. Conservation Service contacted the Vernon detachment and passed along a report from a member of the public about a woman last seen swimming with her kayak Friday near the Evely Recreation Site on Westside Road.

The woman’s body was located in the lake at approximately 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police say she was not wearing a life jacket.

No criminality was suspected, and the RCMP and B.C. Coroners Service were both investigating the death to determine how, where, when and by what circumstances the woman died.
