May 31, 2025 | 6:00 AM

British Columbians are invited to have their say in how the province allocates its funds.

The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services opened consultations for Budget 2026 Friday, May 30.

The committee, comprised of government and opposition MLAs, was tasked with undertaking consultations on the provincial budget to make recommendation based on public input.

“The annual provincial budget consultation is an outstanding opportunity for British Columbians to share the issues and priorities that are important to them,” Paul Choi, MLA for Burnaby South-Metrotown and committee chair, said.

“The input we receive is extremely valuable for the committee as it determines recommendations for the next provincial budget.”

People can provide written input online until Friday, June 20. Public hearings for those who previously registered with the province will begin Monday, June 2, with a presentation of the Budget 2026 consultation paper by the minister of finance.

“This is your chance to suggest how public funds could be invested in your community and across British Columbia,” Elenore Sturko, MLA for Surrey-Cloverdale and deputy chair, said.

“Our committee welcomes input from individuals, organizations and communities in every region of the province. We want to hear from you.”

The committee will consider the input provided and release a report that includes recommendations for the next provincial budget in August of 2025.
