Police and bylaw resources boosted in Kelowna for busy season

May 30, 2025 | 9:00 AM

With tourism and outdoor season ramping up, the City and police are deploying various extra resources for everyone’s safety.

RCMP and Bylaw Enforcement Officers will be visibly present throughout the community.

Operational hours and a range of services are extended from May until the end of August.

They’ll include foot, bike and vehicle patrols from 6 a.m. until midnight, seven days a week. There will also be focused weekend patrols in City parks, downtown, the Rail Trail and Rutland, as needed.

In a media release the City said its Bylaw Services team has extended its operational hours and range of services to include foot, bike and vehicle patrols. Additional officers will be deployed during large events such as Canada Day and the long weekends.

In addition to regular, ongoing public safety services provided by RCMP officers, summer operations will include a presence in high priority areas. There will also be bike, boat and ATV patrols covering larger, hard-to-reach areas – such as Rutland and the Rail Trail, and the return of RCMP ‘Bait Bikes’, equipped with tracking devices that allow officers to quickly track down thieves and reduce overall theft in hot spots.
