Prison Escape Plan Thwarted

Alberta prison escapee and accomplice arrested in Revelstoke

May 29, 2025 | 2:05 PM

Two people were apprehended in Revelstoke after one of them escaped custody in Alberta.

On April 29, Red Deer RCMP learned that a remanded prisoner, 24 year old Mackenzie Hardy, had inadvertently been released due to fraud on April 25.

An investigation determined that 27 year old David Wood conspired with Hardy to assist with the fraudulent release, and an arrest warrant was issued for the accomplice.

On Tuesday, May 27, a Revelstoke RCMP officer observed two individuals walking away from a stolen vehicle and recognized them as Hardy and Wood, who were placed under arrest.

Wood was charged with assisting the escape of a prisoner, identify fraud, and uttering a forged document.

Hardy was charged with escaping lawful custody on top of her outstanding warrants.

Both Hardy and Wood were taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody. The pair will be transported back to Alberta where they will appear in court at later dates.
