May 28, 2025 | 2:15 PM
People may have noticed the Vernon Search and Rescue (VSAR) vessel out on the lake Tuesday.
The agency said it took its boat, “Legacy” out on Okanagan Lake for training purposes on the afternoon and evening of May 28.
The vessel is easily identifies as it is bright orage with flashing blue strobe lights. It is also equipped with radar, FLIR (forward Looking Infrared) camera, powerful searchlights, and other life-saving gear.
VSAR reminds people out in the water that the international sign for “Distress – Need Help” is by waving both arms over your head.
