Rock Slope Stabilization

Part of Vernon’s rock scaling work deferred to the fall

Some of the planned rock scaling work in Vernon is being deferred, while the remainder is moving ahead on schedule.

The City of Vernon said the work on Eastside Road, as part of the Rock Slope Stabilization Project, will be deferred to the fall to accommodate the seasonal bird migration and nesting period.

Additionally, work on Apex Drive was put on hold for an undisclosed reason, with the city to provide an updated timeline at a future date.

Meanwhile, work on 35 St will move to the 3100 block, north of the roundabout near the Schubert Centre and FreshCo, starting Monday, May 26.

That work will require full road closures while the work is underway, with the goal of having it completed Thursday, May 29.

“The City remains committed to completing the Rock Slope Stabilization Project with safety and environmental considerations in mind,” a release from the City of Vernon said.

“Motorists are reminded to follow all traffic control measures and detour signs during construction.”
