Rock stabilization work to impact Eastside Road traffic

May 16, 2025 | 2:23 PM

Planned work along Eastside Road in Vernon will require some temporary closures.

Starting Tuesday, May 20, crews will be doing rock scaling and excavation as part of the Rock Slope Stabilization Project along the side of the roadway.

The work, which will run Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. until June 3, will require intermittent, half-hour closures along Eastside Road.

Additionally, starting April 4, crews will be working in the 35th Street and Apex Drive area doing similar work that will also require road closures.

The City of Vernon asked residents to plan their commutes around these road closures, obey all traffic control measures, and be cautious of workers and equipment.

The Rock Stabilization Project is expected to be completed in the spring, though the city noted some of the work may be deferred to the fall if required.
