Arrest made in shooting in Vernon’s The Rise neighbourhood

A suspect is in custody after an alleged shooting in The Rise neighbourhood late Wednesday night.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP received a reported of a shooting at a property on Okanagan Hills Boulevard around 11:30 p.m., May 14.

Officers arrived on the scene and determined the incident was linked to an assault involving a man and a woman in a vehicle while parked at a pullout on the road earlier that day.

Police say the male suspect allegedly returned to the scene after the altercation and fired the weapon several times.

The suspect was later located and arrested without further incident in the Falkland area.

One person suffered non-life threatening injuries in the shooting.

The 33 year old male suspect was in custody Thursday, with police saying he would not be released until after he makes his first court appearance.
