Ban in Effect Noon Friday

Enderby to implement Category 3 Open Fire ban

May 14, 2025 | 12:03 PM

The City of Enderby will put a ban on Category 3 Open Fires in the city and the Shuswap River Fire Protection District Friday.

The ban will come into effect at noon, May 16, and will align with the B.C. Wildfire Service’s broader ban across the Kamloops Fire Centre.

Category 3 Open Fires involve materials in piles exceeding two metres in height or thee metres in width, windrows that do not exceed 200 metres in length or 15 metres in width, and stubble or grass over an area larger than 0.2 hectares in size.

The City of Enderby added it has additional regulations for campfires and outdoor fireplaces within the city, and has a permit system for all open burning.
