Kelowna International Airport (YLW) is now ranked the ninth busiest airport in Canada.

That is based on 2024 passenger numbers.

Passenger traffic was up 10.4 per cent in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same time last year.

Looking ahead to summer, the airport is adding even more seats —18 per cent more for domestic flights and a 20 per cent boost overall, including daily year-round flights to Seattle with Alaska Airlines.

In a media release Monday, Sam Samaddar, chief executive officer, said they were thrilled by the achievement.

“The significant increase in passenger traffic and our new ranking highlights YLW’s vital role in connecting people and fostering economic growth,” he said. “This milestone is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, the ever-growing confidence of our passengers in our services, and the continued support of our industry and community partners.”
