Highway through Enderby reopened following collision

DriveBC removed the crash on Highway 97A in the north end of Enderby from the ongoing incident list at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 8.

The crash occurred shortly after 3 o’clock and caused northbound traffic to be backed up through the city.

RCMP have not provided any updates on the collision.

The highway through Enderby remains closed.

DriveBC reported a collision on Highway 97A in the north end of town, between Knight Ave. and Brickyard Road, shortly after 3 p.m.

Northbound traffic was backed up all the way through the city centre as of 4:30 p.m., with vehicles being redirected off the highway and onto Knight Ave.

DriveBC said at 5 p.m. that an assessment was underway, and an update would be provided at 6 p.m.

The RCMP had not responded to a request for comment from Vernon Matters.

Highway 97A was closed after an accident on the north end of Enderby Thursday, May 8.

Callers told Vernon Matters the highway was closed, with DriveBC reporting a collision between Knight Avenue and Brickyard Road shortly after 3 p.m.

DriveBC said the collision was being assessed, though no detours were in effect and there was no estimated time for the highway reopening.

The RCMP did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
