Vernon RCMP seeking witnesses after serious crash involving a cyclist

Mounties are asking witnesses to come forward after a cyclist was seriously injured in a collision outside Vernon.

RCMP say a cyclist was hit by a vehicle on Highway 97, near Swan Lake Market and Garden, at around 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 5.

Investigators determined that a white Honda Accord was travelling south when a man on a bicycle tried to cross the highway and rode right out in front of the vehicle.

The driver was unable to stop and the cyclist was struck.

The rider suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to hospital.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
