Clean Team being formed to manage downtown Vernon
A new initiative will be launched to make sure the downtown core is kept in good conditions.
A staff report to Vernon City Council recommended the city establish a Clean Team to manage the downtown and address concerns such as litter and garbage disposal, graffiti, pressure washing, cleaning bus stops, landscaping maintenance and repairs, returning shopping carts to the proper businesses, and responding quickly to complaints.
The team would consist of two workers with a truck, trailer and pressure washer, and would operate from June 1 to September 30.
Staff said having the Clean Team operating would cost $88,000 per year, and recommended funding it through the unexpended reserve.
