A man tried for the second time in a sexual assault of a minor case is going back to prison.

Keith Chase was found guilty of sexually assaulting an underage girl when he was her hockey coach in 2004.

Chase appealed the decision in the original trial, and a retrial took place at Vernon court.

The B.C. Prosecution Service said Chase was found guilty in the retrial, and on Thursday, April 24, was sentenced to 685 days, or 23 months, in jail.

The court imposed a DNA order, a firearms prohibition for 10 years, and a SOIRA (Sex Offender Information Registration Act) order and will be listed on the national sex offender registry for 20 years. Chase was also issued a no-contact order during the period of incarceration.
