Rail Trail maintenance underway

Apr 22, 2025 | 9:55 AM

Annual maintenance work on the constructed and unconstructed sections of the former rail corridor property is going in the North Okanagan and Shuswap.

The work on the Rail Trail will include maintaining culverts, bridges and drainage infrastructure, and mowing weeds and bush growth.

Mowing in unconstructed sections would be limited to the old rail bed, or gravel ballast, where the future trail is planned.

The work is expected to take a few weeks to complete.

People were reminded that only a few sections of the trail were currently open to the public, including the trail through Enderby, and areas near Sicamous and Armstrong.

Construction of the trail’s section along Mara Lake began in early-April, and was expected to take six weeks to complete, pending Agricultural Land Commission approvals.
