Four days of advance voting starts Good Friday

Apr 17, 2025 | 2:00 PM

It’s the Easter weekend but also, advance polls will be held from Friday through Monday, in polling places across the country. The general election is April 28.

All polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Elections Canada is strongly encouraging electors with busy schedules, who are concerned about line-ups or unavailable on election day to take advantage of the early voting option.

You must vote at your assigned poll, which is on your info card.

In a statement Thursday, Elections Canada offered key information:

Voters will find the location of their poll on their voter information card or by entering their postal code online here. They must show a proof of identity and address before they vote.

It can be a driver’s license with their current address, or any other piece of government-issued ID with their photo, name, and current address on it. If they don’t have one, they’ll need to bring two pieces of accepted ID: one with their name, the other with their name and address.

For example: a bank card and the voter information card, or a library card and a utility bill.

Those who are not registered to vote or those who didn’t get a voter information card can register or update their registration at the polls.

Finally, electors need to make sure their assigned polling station meets their accessibility needs.

To find out how accessible their polling place is, they can: – check their personalized voter information card, – visit elections.ca and enter their postal code, or – call us at 1-800-463-6868 or 1-800-361-8935 (TTY).
