Silver Star Rd. and Phoenix Dr. Roundabout

Roundabout construction in the BX to begin Tuesday

Apr 16, 2025 | 9:55 AM

Vernon’s next traffic control measure project will begin as early as Tuesday.

The city said construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Silver Star Road and Phoenix Drive will begin on April 22.

Phoenix Drive closures will come into effect Wednesday, April 23, and detours through Foothills Drive will be put in place.

Construction will go from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, with the city stating there may be some weekend work.

Silver Star Road would remain open during the work, though there would be traffic control measures in place including alternating lanes and reduced speed limits. There would also be uneven road surfaces and gravel sections.

The city reminded motorists to obey all traffic control measures and be cautious of workers and equipment when travelling through work sites.

Along with building the roundabout, crews will also rebuild the road base; install new sidewalks, curbs and street lighting; and upgrade the drainage systems.

The project was expected to be completed by the fall.
