One person injured in shooting Wednesday morning

One person was injured in an alleged targeted shooting in Vernon shortly before noon Wednesday.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP officers received a report of a shooting in the 4000-block of 25th Street around 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, April 16.

The call resulted in local Mounties and B.C. Highway Patrol converging on the area.

One person was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“Although we’re still in the very early stages of this investigation, it’s believed to be an isolated incident and there is nothing to indicate any immediate risk to the public,” Const. Chris Terleski, Media Relations Officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, said.

Police said no arrest had been made as of time of publication and no further information was available.
