Rock slide forces closure of Highway 3A between Keremeos and Kaleden

A rock slide early Tuesday morning has forced the closure of a significant stretch of Highway 3A between Keremeos and Kaleden.
DriveBC says debris came down around 6 a.m., prompting the shutdown of more than 30 kilometres of the highway.
A detour is now in place. Passenger vehicles are being rerouted via Green Mountain Road, but commercial transport trucks are being advised to use Highway 97 through Oliver and Osoyoos to reconnect with Keremeos.
Crews are on scene to assess the slide and begin cleanup. In its latest update, DriveBC suggested the closure will remain in place for a significant amount of time.
