Advisory issued for Killiney Beach water system

Apr 15, 2025 | 10:42 AM

A water quality advisory has been issued for the Killiney Beach water system due to elevated turbidity levels caused by the annual spring freshet, the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) said Tuesday.

Roughly 295 properties connected to the system along Westside Road are affected. Roadside signage has been posted to notify residents of the advisory.

The RDCO recommends that all users — especially children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems — boil water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, brushing teeth, washing produce, making ice, or preparing beverages. Bottled or distilled water may be used as a safer alternative.

The advisory will remain in effect until further notice and water quality tests confirm the system meets Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines.

Residents seeking more information can visit rdco.com/water or contact RDCO Environmental Services by phone at 250-469-6241 or email at engineer@rdco.com.

More information on drinking water safety and turbidity is available on the Interior Health website.
