Vernon has over $40M in carryover projects

The City of Vernon has tens-of-millions of dollars worth of projects carrying over from the previous year.

A report to Vernon City Council stated it had infrastructure carryovers (IC) from 2024 that valued $18,391,164, along with special project carryovers (SPC) that amounted to $21,658,780.

Those include multi-million dollar projects such as:

  • $17,268,033 for the Active Living Centre (SPC)
  • $2,016,926 to replace two, and purchase two more, dump trucks (SPC)
  • $2,007,768 for a Priority Drainage Improvements project in the Smith Creek area (IC)
  • $1,693,903 for the Polson Park Creek Naturalization project (IC)
  • $1,256,387 for Okanagan Lake access site development (IC)
  • $1,095,379 for a Master Transportation Plan update (IC)

These and the other projects listed in the city’s carryover documents were already approved in the 2024-2028 Financial Plan or through budget amendments.

Council will receive the report and list of projects for information at the regular meeting Monday, April 14.

City staff will bring forward an updated list with reserve balances when the financial statements for 2024 are completed later in the spring.
