A cyclist was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Kelowna Thursday morning.

Mounties responded to reports of the crash at the intersection of Highland Drive South and Lamby Place at approximately 8:30 a.m. April 10.

Officers arrived on the scene and learned a 77 year old male cyclist was struck by a large pickup truck.

The cyclist was taken to hospital but did not survive his injuries.

Kelowna Municipal Traffic and the Criminal Crash Investigation Team conducted an investigation where they determined that a pickup was traveling east on Highland Drive South when it collided with the cyclist, who was believed to have been heading north on Lamby Place.

The driver and sole occupant of the pickup remained on the scene following the crash.

“It is not necessary for us to share any further information at this time, and we offer our sincerest condolences to the family,” Cpl. Michael Gauthier, Kelowna RCMP’s Media Relations Officer, stated.
