Westside Road partially reopened again Tuesday morning after last week’s landslide. It had reopened Sunday only to be closed Monday morning because of heavy rain.

Drive BC said a single lane was open to alternating traffic as of 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Crews are monitoring the area and more rain is expected.

The Regional District Central Okanagan (RDCO) is also asking nearby residents to stay alert, watch for shoreline debris, and check culverts to prevent flooding.

RCMP say the slide site is now being treated as a possible missing person case. Personal items were found near the site, and search teams are back out looking.

The BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit posted drone footage of the landslide site on their YouTube channel April 4. Watch below.

In a media release late Monday, the RDCO reminded residents, particularly those adjacent to and within recently burned areas, to stay vigilant and familiarize themselves with their terrain and waterways. This includes monitoring and removing any materials collecting in culverts in front of their property to help reduce pooling and potential localized flooding.

Residents should monitor for irregularities, particularly during rainfall events and report landslide or debris flow indicators to the 24-hour provincial toll-free number at 1-800-663-3456 or contact local fire, RCMP, or public works departments.
