Sicamous RCMP have launched an investigation into what appeared to be a targeted shooting.

Police responded to reports of shots fired near a condo building in the 300-block of Mara Lane around 4 p.m. Sunday, April 6.

Officers arrived on the scene and spoke with witnesses, who described suspects fleeing the scene in a white SUV.

Mounties determined the intended target of the shooting was a Sicamous man who was known to police.

The target fled the scene in another vehicle, but police were able to track him down. He was unharmed but his truck had multiple bullet holes in it and was seized as part of the investigation.

Sicamous RCMP informed pother area police of the incident and Salmon Arm RCMP spotted the white SUV heading west from Canoe, but it evaded police. The vehicle was located, abandoned, near the Trans Canada Highway in Canoe.

Police Dog Services were deployed, and the two suspects were tracked down and arrested in a residential area of Canoe.

Both suspects, who were known to RCMP in Alberta, remained in custody.

“A shooting in a residential area during mid day is alarming; however, this was an isolated targeted incident with both suspects in police custody,” Sgt. Murray MacNeil, Detachment Commander for the Sicamous RCMP, said.

The investigation into this shooting was ongoing.
